Report
Zdzisław Marchwicki was found responsible for a series of murders of women in Silesia and Zagłębie between 1964 and 1970. The hunt for the “Vampire of Zagłębie” was the largest manhunt in communist Poland and a politically charged case. Convicted of 14 murders, he was executed in 1977. Some researchers and journalists still question his guilt, pointing to doubts about the investigation.
