About Crimedle

Crimedle is a daily logic puzzle for true crime fans, inspired by Wordle. Every night a file lands on the desk of a Division XIII detective with one wanted serial killer – your job is to work out who it is in six interrogations or fewer.

The 3D office and the classic version

You pick a version on the home page. Night shift is a small 3D office in the style of first-PlayStation games: a case file, a typewriter, a phone, a teletype and a detective board. Two coffees a day buy extra leads – a call with an informant, a cipher from the teletype or fingerprints under the magnifier – and every case ends with a lineup behind a one-way mirror. The classic version is the original 2D Crimedle – lighter, runs on any phone. Both share the same streak and stats.

Game modes

Case files and the detective board

Once a person has appeared as a daily case, their file is declassified: it contains the game data, a short report and a police memo. Every case you solve is also pinned to your detective board – a world map that fills up with every killer you catch.

FAQ

When does a new case appear?

At midnight according to your device's clock.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

The game is completely free, with no accounts and no ads. Your progress is stored only in your browser.

The 3D office stutters or won't start. What can I do?

Pick the classic version in the start menu or lower the graphics quality in the settings – your streak and stats stay the same.

Where does the data come from?

From publicly available sources: press coverage, court records and published research. Victim counts are the values used in the game – in many cases the true number is unknown or disputed.

Does Crimedle glorify criminals?

No. It is a deduction puzzle based on plain facts. Descriptions are factual and free of gory detail, and in the 3D office the culprits appear only as silhouettes. The fingerprints on record cards and in the magnifier puzzle are fictional — the game generates them, they are not the culprits’ real prints. Respect for victims and their families comes first.

I found a mistake in the data. What should I do?

Write to us via the contact form on the notice board in the office or in the classic version's menu – we check every report.
