Report
In the 1990s Luis Garavito murdered over a hundred children, mostly poor boys, across many regions of Colombia. He lured victims by posing as a vendor, a monk or a charity worker. Arrested in 1999, he confessed and was convicted of 138 murders. His combined sentences exceeded a thousand years, but Colombian law capped imprisonment at a few decades. He died in prison in 2023.
